Common signs of a termite infestation:
* A temporary swarm of winged insects in your home or from the soil around your home.
* Cracked or bubbling paint or wood shavings (frass).
* Mud tubes on exterior walls, wooden beams, or in crawl spaces..
* Wood that sounds hollow when tapped..
Termites typically swarm in spring, but small flights can occur at any time of the year. Swarming is the visible means that termites use to establish new colonies..
Drywood termites inhabit the same wood or other source of cellulose material on which it feeds. They can live within furniture and in the wood behind walls, creating elaborate systems of tunnels..
Subterranean termites are one of the most common throughout the United States. These termites build their colonies within loose, damp soil and create elaborate mud tunnels through which they access above-ground food sources..
Termites are attracted to moisture and food sources such as firewood, decks and fences. Also, termites have been known to chew through vinyl, linoleum, and underground cables..
Types of Treatment
Liquid Treatment
Liquid treatments help deter termites immediately while offering protection from future infestations. This treatment may be applied on the inside, outside and within your home’s foundation, providing a protective barrier around the perimeter. Liquid wood treatments can be injected directly into active termite infestations.
Small holes are drilled through the concrete to allow the chemical to reach the ground beneath. These holes are placed along the perimeter of the garage as well as on either side of doorways and overhead garage doors – as seen in the photos above.
Before the application, the concrete dust is swept up. Once treatment is completed, the holes are filled with cork and covered with concrete patch.
In areas that are covered with dirt or rock beds, a trench is dug along the wall to allow for better application. Once treatment is finished, the trench is then filled back in.
Bait Stations
Monitoring stations are placed in strategic at-risk locations around your home to determine and evaluation termite activity. Once activity is found, the monitoring station is replaced with a bait station. Termites then ingest the bait and share it with other termites, which helps establish control of the entire colony.
